That's a great price, but then again it's a refurb!

I see on the new ones that kit lens costs 400 extra for the kit. Which is very expensive for a 3.5-4.5. When Pentax finally comes out with a FF we legacy glass owners are in for a treat! A good reminder for what we get as value is concerned as Pentax users.

As a long time Pentax user, when I bought my d600 in December I was surprised to learn that Nikon has pretty good backwards compatibility themselves, as long as you have one of their higher end bodies. This is a pretty darn good deal. FWIW I have about 700 shots on my d600 and no sign of the dirty sensor issues.

The thing is .... I didn't get the package when it is $2000 last x'mas, but then I spent $17xx for the K5IIs +DA*16-50 combo. silly me.

That was still a better deal than this is (though pretty close). I think I got about $90 in adorama cashback (instant $50 plus another 2%), about $80 from selling the swivi lcd viewfinder to another member here for their Q, and the Nikon stereo Mic is pretty nice to use (and worth another $100). I really enjoy being back with a larger body (always loved the K10/20 size) that I find I've ended up with such a complete system I'll probably be selling some more of my Pentax gear in the near future. Probably only keeping the 15mm ltd and 40mm xs along with the k-01 (it is going to be really hard to part with my 50-135 though).

Though I do certainly miss the in body SR, the kit VR lens is pretty nice, and a few fast lenses and excellent high iso have made the lack of SR less of a shock.

I like K20D handling too among other things such as SD card door switch.

How is D600 handling compared to K5? Some users said it is more plasticky. That is only to educate myself, I cannot buy anymore camera gear I already spent too much money on Pentax and compatibles.

Along with size, it does share a similar feel to the k20d - plasticky but still solid is a reasonably accurate description. The K-5 I think is in a league of its own at its price point with regards to feel.

Cameta has been selling the body for ~1600 for quite sometime now. These are factory refurbs, they come with the same warranty, and I suspect they might be fixing the dust issues on the sly. My cousin has 2 refurbished D600s that he uses professionally, and he's had no problem with either. With the kit lens, this is a fantastic deal. It's really tempting.

I noticed they dropped the warranty from 1 year to 90 days, so no wonder they could drop the price.

Curious if anyone has ordered this deal ?

What about the oil & dust issues the D600 had on launch. Did they fix it ?

Highly thinking about it! That's a really good deal! For what it's worth, I spoke with a very highly regarded camera repair shop and he said the D600 and the D800 are both dust magnets. He has yet to see any oil. He said "just don't change your lens" and you'll be fine. Joking of course...

It's $65 for a full wet cleaning. If you buy it, test it (small aperture straight up at the sky). If it's bad send it back!
