Unbelievable! I mean is this serious?

I couldn't possibly afford this one. I think I have the wrong job.

F/1.8 and f/2 are only 1/3 of a stop appart... A star and all, still a really old, overpriced lens. Even coatings, as good as SMC might have been at the moment, modern coatings are a lot better.
You will have used one yourself then...

Haven't had the pleasure. I am lucky to find pentax lenses at all in my country. Let alone more "rare" lenses. BUT, in any case, I wouldn't spend this kind of money on a used, old lens.
I know you use manual focus glass exclusively, have a great collection and experience with them so I take your word when you say it is a good lens. It's just my common sense when comparing prices with modern equipment. 24x36 body + carl zeiss lens for a similar price is kind of confusing at least.

It's pretty safe to say such high values are generated by the lack of modern day equivalent. Same goes for the A* 200 macro. Apparently there's market for such lenses.
Yea.. That's the main reason why the vintage glasses are priced so high... :/

But ultimately, just like me, we can only dream about having such lenses anymore.. :'(
I believe it will never be done again because at such size, it is against Pentax principles: kawaii..
