The crop multiplier of a Q is 5.5x, so a 1200mm lens on a Q = 6600mm.

The Canon "Cannon" had a focal length of 5200mm.

https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/general-photography-industry/211052-canon-cannon.html

So a Q + the A* 1200mm should be able to see farther than the Canon Cannon.

Here's a picture of what the Canon Cannon could do:

http://www.outdoorphoto.co.za/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=1521&stc=1&d=1169756917

It's hard to fathom what 6600mm would be like. You would need a serious tripod/gimbal setup, and some sort of aerial/satellite/gps targeting confirmation to make sure you're taking a picture of what you actually want to take a picture of. That, or serious skillz.

It would probably have some crazy macro applications too.

So if anyone is able to do this, please try it and share the results!

check out my comparison of the pentax q with the 500mm, the 500mm and 1.7 adapter and the 500 mm + 1.7 adapter and the 1.4 teleconverter
The final crop equivalent focal range is: 500mm x 1.7 x 1.4 x 5.6 = 6664

add a gyrostabilizer and a saddle mounted tripod, connect a wireless laptop and wireless flight control from an RC plane, could send out your horse in front and control the camera remotely from a computer waist/shoulder sling....lol

at 20 pounds just for the lens, I wouldn't be hiking very far with it without a pack animal to carry it

anyone have a llama?

SteveM has posted some pretty cool shots using his $7500 eBay Best Offer win A*1200, a gimbal head and no aiming device of a moving wind surfer, taken at several hundred yards, from the top of a cliff.

Really - truly amazing captures just to get the subject in the frame - and then to be focused and exposed correclty = Skillz!

I've got a converter, I just haven't been able to bring myself to shlep this all out so that I can take a 6000+mm pic in this 100 degree heat. There's no usable image that will result unless its close by.

Besides, I've got the 2000mm to try it with also.

I would like to see a comparison of pictures taken with an A* 1200/8 and an F(A)* 600/4 + 2x.

Imho, >f4 is not really a good idea with a Q.
