Pentax 35mm for $150 and 50mm for $120. Other lenses too.

Pentax is having a sale on lenses. There are a few on sale but these two seem pretty good. The 35mm is $150 and the 50mm is half off at $120.

Thanks for the heads-up, I think. I bought a DA 50 before reading the rest of this thread. My emailed receipt indicated $250 instead of $130, but I printed the receipt and saved the .pdf file of it just in case. We'll see what happens. My credit card wasn't charged instantly or within a few minutes which leads me to believe there may be an issue with this.

Same thing happened to me. When I called to check on it, I was told "there is an error on our website with these lenses, all of these orders will be cancelled. The only way you get this price is if you buy a body at the same time".

Bummer if all the orders are cancelled, as there was strictly no such mention on the page. It just said the lens is on sale. (Not that I could order one - Canada - but if I had, I'd be pretty annoyed.)

Hell, it still shows up, on the 50, for $120 on sale.
No camera buy needed etc.

Ricoh has a plan..................

That's what I said to the rep. She said, "we just found out about it today. It will take a day or two to update the website".

I just ordered the DA 50 1.8 without reading through all these pages for $119.95 and free shipping with PayPal. It does show it as "In Stock Ships within 1 day" so I really hope they honor the ad.

What kind of business taking a couple days to adjust price? E-commerce web apps these days shouldn't be rocket science.

What kind of business has an order system capable of displaying one price to the customer but charging their card a different one?

I think Pentax should ship the ordered lenses at their advertised price. Even if they don't make a big profit, the volume alone should serve as a great boost - and promotion! People who get new lenses are happy to take photos with them, and show them to friends. Pentaxians are experiencing a drought, and a deal like that give some much needed fluid. Taking it back.. just seems like bad practice

I also "bought" one for $119 this afternoon. Like everyone else, I hope they honor the deal.

I can change my own website in roughly 1 - 2 minutes. I don't see any excuse for something like this, and it's a shame that the people at Ricoh think so little of themselves and their customers that they are okay with this. Assuming they take a day or two to "update" their site, and don't honor the posted price.

Of course, if they do honor the $119 price, I will be very happy with them.

The folks that do the "look how much money we'll save by outsourcing" spreadsheets never seem to include the hidden cost of "the guy doing your work doesn't really give a rip." This is just one of the costs of the mass outsourcing of major business functions that Pentax did several years ago. Maybe the new guy can get their web store back in shape.

This will be a good chance for Ricoh Pentax to keep its loyal customers by honoring all of the orders. Don't make it ugly and disappoint the Pentaxians, please!

Well, usually when this kind of mistake happens they'd at least give you another coupon -- not that it's all that useful usually but it's an expected gesture these days. I guess time will tell if Pentax takes their web store seriously at all.

I agree -it is a great opportunity for them to create some good will. I can't remember the last time they did that. Maybe when they offered the focus peaking update for the Q (that did happen, right?)...

Another example of arrogance from this company. We're gluttons for punishment!
