Pentax version only $799, not bad. (Doesn't have OS)

But is it any good? Say compared to a Bigma or other well known SIgma lens?

Here is your answer!

Man those are some extremely tempting prices especially the Nikon mount stuff (35mm 1.4 for $679!).

I have the non OS version of that lens. You can take awesome moon shots with it, and it's great for wildlife. It's heavy, but fast and silent focusing. I like my copy.

The description says it's the "APO DG OS HSM" version. All mounts of that version have the OS built-in, and I know from experience that it works better at long focal lengths than the Pentax in-body stabilization.

It also says no OS for Sony & Pentax. It is a bit confusing...

Either way it's a good lens.

It used to be ridiculously confusing, but they do now make a majority of their lenses with OS built in. If it is in the title description, then this should be for the OS version (which definitely has its advantages at telephoto focal lengths...namely a stabilized image in the viewfinder).

It says right on the page not available for Sony & Pentax. Certainly I'd double-check before buying!

"Optical stabilization compensates for camera shake (not available on Sony & Pentax mounts)" meaning OS is not available for the Pentax and Sony mounts. If you click on the "Choose Mount" button you'll get a choice of Nikon or Pentax. Choosing Pentax will get a $799 buy now price for the lens.

The OS version of this lens has been available in Pentax mount since the beginning of 2011 (I know because I was one of the first to get the OS version of the 120-400mm which came out at the same time in K mount). The Sigma website has never been correct about what is or isn't available (OS) and for what mounts (this should be obvious since the site still says they don't offer OS in Pentax or Sony mount - neither statement being true) - if the for sale listing on their site states it is the OS version, I'd say it is 99% chance it is the OS version. Note that they are asking the same $799 for the Nikon OS refurbished lens as well - the non OS lenses did sell for less back when they were available (they have been discontinued for some time now).

I've had this lens for over a year and feel the reviews in the Forum for this lens are dead on, That's a very good zoom lens at a great price.
