Just checked the spring10 coupon - it works.. $50 off the 40mm... I'm sure as hell tempted - don't own any limited lenses yet and the silver one looks like a beaut.

Wow, in Austraila the price difference is crazy! Not just the $50 increase that we saw in the US. IMHO that kind of premium isn't worth it even if the nano coating makes a difference...

Yup, I dropped CR an email saying how their prices were insane but their reply was that 10% tradeshow code (which can't be used in conjunction with this code)
It's much cheaper to order it from B&H for <$800 vs $920 from Aus

Plus PentaxForums gets a nice little bonus ;D

The first and last time I bought from them was my 77mm which is in silver and was cheaper than the US black counter part but then they bumped it up to a ridiculous $899 and brought the 31mm to $1199 from a below 998 I think. I should have bought that 31mm before the 77mm.

I wonder what happened to the green limited stocks.. I want to buy the 15 instead of the new one, considering the price difference.

I went into B&M stores having that same mindset :P
They called up CR and said that there was no stock left on the green limited line. Apparently they ordered them in on demand. I guess we are kinda scarce in Australia..
If you want the green one, order from
B&H for some $650

Why do you need a second copy of the 18-135? Just curious.

Nono, 650 after delivery and conversion it's 600 before $30 delivery +8%ish for currency conversion. Plus if you're with Citibank or have a 28 Degrees card, there's no foreign conversion

Trenzo , I have 2 camera Bodies and purchased a 2nd one for the SWMBO so when we go out shooting together we don't have to keep swapping lenses.
nah , seriously Cut a long story short , on an outing I had noticed all my images were really soft on 1 side of the frame , when I took the lens to an independent camera repairer and confirmed that the lens needed repaire , one of the elements had become decentred , The 3 little Cabon steel screws which hold the front Element had been so badly rusted that camera repairer could not get them out no matter what tool he used. why on earth would pentax not use stainless steel screws on a WR is beyond me ??? So now it's just a Dud Lens

So that's what it is. And for the last question, that's a classic manufactured obsolescence. Such a tragedy.

The older SMC limiteds have finally appeared on the Pentax AU webstore. Probably following the change in their website.
Pity the spring10 coupon has expired.

15mm SMC - $649 vs HD - $899
21mm SMC - $599 vs HD - $699
35mm SMC - $569 vs HD - $679
40mm SMC - $440 vs HD - $499
70mm SMC - $498 vs HD - $699

as always, +$10 for shipping
