Since I'm from North America, can you sum up a quick price analysis of the new HD line versus the original SMC?

Original SMC lenses have been taken off the site now unfortunately. Pricing for the DA 15 was 649 and the DA 21 599, I think the DA 40 was $400 but I can't be 100%

That means in AU terms the DA 15 has been increased by $250 the DA 21 increased by $100 and the DA 40 $100.

Suffice to say unless there is some significant improvement with the new coating you'd be an idiot to buy the new DA 15 at the very least (in Australia anyway)

It is safe to assume they will drop in price after the initial launch.

Seems to be numerically on par with European prices.

I don't think it is safe to assume that to be honest.

Unfortunately, in Australia prices don't go down only up

They went down once, and that was earlier this year seemingly to reflect the AUD:USD rate changes over the previous few years as the prices hadn't been adjusted since the AUD gained strength. However since that price change the AUD has gone in the wrong direction and now we have these new prices for a new lens release. I don't think the prices will reduce for the HD DA limiteds unless the AUD goes up a lot versus the USD.

We will wait and see I guess, I could be mistaken. I was under the impression that HD coating was actually cheaper than SMC to manufacture. Either way I still think they are good and I hope the improvement will be noticable (and maybe they will re-do the FA lineup lol )

Fortunately, CRK pricing scheme has improved drastically recently. Infact their FA 77mm ltd is one of the best priced around!

wow, their price for the FA31mm f/1.8 is a good $250 lower than what I paid for mine in 2009, and the new DA15mm f/4 is only $50 more expensive than when I bought mine in 2011. But I buy my lenses from brick and mortar stores - they have to make a profit somewhere.

You can use the "spring10" voucher to get an extra 10% off for the rest of the month.

I can confirm it works for the HD Limited lenses.

But I want to see the difference between the old version and the new one. I don't want to regret it.
