Canada: DA 55-300mm for $199.98
Posted By: Clarkey, 09-14-2013, 05:59 AM

I'm not sure if this is a typo, but the vendor was reputable for me in Ontario:

Photoservice Quebec

If real it is a very good deal!

Appears they only ship to Canada, and add $30 PST/QST or GST/HST plus $10 shipping for a total of around $240.

Fantastic deal. I've been looking for one of these for my wife. I figured it would be the L model, but no! Metal mount, quick-shift, lens hood, distance scale. It's the real McCoy. Thanks for the tip.

I called to verify - it is the DA L lens and they are correcting the error.

Thank you for that info. I can now put my wallet away.

Still a fantastic lens though! I own a DA-L and love it! But I thought I could get myself a DA (for quick shift) and then cheap out and give a used DA-L lens to the wife for Xmas

Argh, that's a bummer.
Selfishly, means my one is still worth a little more on the second hand market though!

Is that with, or without the zip-tie?

Zip tie can be arranged.....

I think I'm going to write a short article about that method of aperture control on non-pentax bodies!

Final update, six weeks later. The order was placed and the lens arrived. As expected it was a DA-L 55-300. I contacted the vendor and explained that what I received was not what was described on the site. I returned the lens and sent them a copy of my shipping order. Two days later I was refunded my return shipping costs. Today I received my DA 55-300, lens hood, metal mount, quick shift. All in all it was a six week ordeal, but I ended up with my lens for $237 with taxes and shipping. Photoprice.ca shows the best price of $383 with taxes and shipping from McBain's. Kudos to Photo Service Ltd. for honouring their price.

That's fantastic news! I know I will look at them in the future when I need something. Not a lot of places have that kind of integrity.
