Bower 85mm f1.4 - $54
Posted By: LooseModge, 09-29-2013, 09:16 AM

Don't know much about this Amazon seller, but I thought I would share this for any adventurous folks. Amazon honors prices, even mistakes, right? Long wait for shipping, but a killer price.

Or tell me how I'm wrong.

Wowzers, I think that price is missing a 2 in front of it

Ah, too bad. But I do not expect Amazon to honor a past mistake. I ordered it at the $54 price and have my receipt. Perhaps I'll just get a refund, but I hope not!

Amazon doesn't require independent merchants in its marketplace to honor price mistakes, nor should it.

A bunch of customers jumping on a ridiculously low price resulting from a slip of the finger during data entry could ruin someone's business otherwise.

You should've gotten your order confirmed and sent first, then share it If you share it, no one benefits as they will catch on to the mistake!

I empathize if it's a small store though, and wouldn't want them to take a hit. If it's fulfilled by amazon... that's another story

Yeah, I'll see. I was waffling a bit on the purchase, but as I was sharing I thought, "What the heck! Order the dang thing already!", so I ordered and wrote the post about the same time.

I sympathize with the difficulties in pricing mistakes and having to outlay a bunch of money, but then again, having merchants change their minds about prices after the fact would be undesirable too.

Not just merchants, but even Ricoh is guilty of pricing bait and switches.

There's a big difference between bait and switch, and having the wrong price/information listed and canceling orders.
