K-3 / K-5 II / K-50: Don't forget the extended warranty!
Posted By: Adam, 10-09-2013, 12:00 PM

If you live in the US, you can get a 2-year warranty extension on any new camera purchase with the warranty card below ($19):

Pentax 2-Year Extended Warranty for Pentax and Ricoh 85716 B&H
Pentax 2 Year Extended Warranty for all current Pentax DSLR, Compact and Q Cameras. (Total Warranty 3 years - 1 Year Standard + 2 Years Additional)

This warranty is valid for all Pentax and Ricoh cameras (DSLRs and compacts).

The warranty card must be purchased at the same time as the camera to be valid. This card must be purchased within 30 days of receiving the camera and is valid even if you purchased the camera from a different retailer in the US. If it's back-ordered that the time of purchase, that's OK- the original invoice date is all that matters. (updated Jan 2015)

Wife will probably throw something heavy at me, but my biz taxes for this year are screwed up enough as it is, so I put in the order today. Including the extended warranty - thanks to this post.

Adorama - they had the Flu card for an extra $20-30 and BH didn't.

K-3 + Grip + Flu card for $816 instead of without the Flu Card for $796. Seems the better deal right now to me.

Sure thing. And wow, that was fast. Doorbell rang a couple hours ago and it was a big box from Adorama. I only paid for second day air and got it overnight.

And of course, I took the card out of my K5, put it in the K3, formatted it...THEN remembered there was a photo of my wife on there from a performance over the weekend and I hadn't backed it up yet, so I have data rescue running on it for 2 more hours to try and recover 1 photo.

If that doesn't work give Photorec a try. I've had very good results with it finding stuff the other recovery programs I've tired didn't.

Been there, done that. Good luck with the recovery. I like San Disk's recovery program (and its free last time I checked).

Not good in Florida.
I did some research on this. It is only not good if it is repaired in FL.

Case:
Body purchased in Canada (quickndone, 2254062 Ontario Ltd), shipped to US address.
Choices:
* Stay with Canadian 2-year guarantee?
** Ask Pentax/Ricoh for 1-year international guarantee (valid in the U. States AND in Europe or wherever you are on a trip)?
*** Buy extended 2-year $19.95 guaranty? Is this extended guarantee applicable to the above purchase (body to be shipped to Pentax US authorized service)?
What is more, body place of living shall be Europe (EU).
