It's about time these went on sale. That 70mm price is nice!

I'm hoping they do the same with the 55-300 since a new HD version is on the way.

Adorama site seems to be very slow at the moment........

Stage one, Introduce new version of lens at higher price so that people buy old version at normal price before they run out.
Stage two, Drop price of old lens to clear out stock.
Stage three, Lower new versions price back to the original price of the old version.
