Do you guys think it's worth waiting for black friday to get the DA 15mm, or get one right now? I might catch a better offer with the black friday IF the supplies last... but it might not. I don't think the new HD version is worth the price difference!

I don't know, maybe last year experiences? first time I'm thinking to take advantages of BF in US, since our rebates kinda suck!

If I could accurately do that, I'd be picking stocks and not looking in the deals section..

I wouldn't wait. The DA15 is a great lens. Given Ricoh's pricing policy this "clearout" of the older versions is likely to be the best deal you will find. The older DA15 is VERY resistant to flare, so I do not think that you will miss much by going with the older coatings. In my opinion, if the price difference were about $50 I would go with the HD version. For any more than that I would go with the "classic" green-ring version. It looks better, the perfomance is indistinguishable in most cases, and it is a LOT cheaper. It's a "no brainer".

It's about time these went on sale. That 70mm price is nice!

If the 40mm sells out, Staples has it (oddly) for $382. Pentax 21550 40mm f/2.8 Limited Lens For Pentax ist DS Digital SLR Camera | Staples
I'll be damned...I didnt know staples sold dslrs of any kind, let alone Pentax

Stage one, Introduce new version of lens at higher price so that people buy old version at normal price before they run out.
Stage two, Drop price of old lens to clear out stock.
Stage three, Lower new versions price back to the original price of the old version.

Yesterday I almost ordered a DA 21mm, then I had exactly your thoughts.

I actually bought the 70mm from Adorama, then cancelled as I reconsidered. I want to see what the HD coating is all about and the new rounded blades can't be anything but great for portraits. I will wait for them to hopefully go on sale as usual around thanksgiving.

I just ordered a DA 15mm. What are the chances my K-3 magically appears in the same box?

Looks like the 40mm and 70mm lenses are gone. 15, 21, and 35 still in stock: but for how long?

Great deals on the 70 and the 15. I tried to convince my cheapskate buddy. He borrowed my da70 once, for his k01, he was dazzled; but he still wouldn't buy one. He also wants to shoot scapes since he has an ocean view house, a mile from the beach, but no sale on the 15 either. I guess that's why he lives at the ocean and I don't.

Though it seems that it's the DA limited lenses, not or not yet the DA*s, that are being replaced by HD versions.
