Amazon has already started charging sales tax for every state.
Amazon doesn't charge sales tax in Maryland, yet. However, in 2014 they are opening a distribution center in Maryland, and sales tax will be charged thereafter.

Maryland is known for taxing things like the rain, and toilet flushing.

This thread has gotten a bit side tracked, but it makes me feel better that we aren't alone here in Taxachusetts. At least it isn't "taxation without representation"... We do have representation don't we, right?

That's DC's license plate, you know. Because they *don't* have representation.

I thought only Colorado did that… (well, more precisely they make harvesting rain water illegal and will fine you heavily for it) Collecting Rainwater Still Illegal in Much of Colorado | Lot Lines

haha this thread has gotten a bit off track. As for Amazon collecting tax, it only occurs if they have any business or facility in that state. As for paying taxes and/or saving money on out of state purchases, I believe that the IRS has required purchases that were done out of state to be declared and taxes paid. There is an IRS form as well, but as it was pretty much unenforceable. Well that's what I remember from my research into internet tax awhile ago.

Amazon still doesn't have stock

It appears that Pentax is having trouble meeting demand. Amazon and one of their partners have sold off all the discounted K3's and they have still not been restocked. Good news for Pentax (the demand that is), bad news for consumers.

I'm excited about this camera... for one, to own when it gets below 700ish in a year or three ..

and for two, because it is high-end enough, I think, to really pull some outside interest towards Pentax as a whole. That means, perhaps, more interest from 3rd party lens and accessory developers to release products for Pentax... so we all win (potentially).

And now it's $1187 on Amazon. 1058 if you don't mind a "cosmetic imperfection" from warehouse deals
