Just a heads up, amazon is consistantly pretty bad about properly securing items inside the shipping box. I just got my K-3 from amazon yesterday, and it is going back because the rear LCD does not work. Is that because amazon put it inside a shipping box with not enough packing material to keep it from sliding back and forth within the shipping box? I don't know, but it makes me wonder.

I would love to have a K3, but, I have told myself that I am not ever again going to pay 1299.00 or thereabouts for, what is now, an $850.00 camera. I did that with a K5IIS in July and here we are a few months later at 30% or greater off..................the current K3 pricing thing is ridiculous regardless of the Black Friday myth and voodoo..............a new product should be priced correctly and competitively with the market when introduced. I wonder how the folks who pre-ordered K3s at $1,299.00 feel when they see this immediate price reduction stuff going on. I wonder how the dealers feel about the disappointed customers complaining about price matches, etc. There is a profound old adage that goes something like this "Goods worth price charged" Think about it......................

dcshooter, totally understand and appreciate your input. I purchased the K5IIS before the K3 was announced; all the information was chatter and speculation/rumor about it, and, well, I wanted a new camera, so that's on me. For what it's worth regarding K5 pricing, I own 3 K5s, at 3 different prices, too; one at $1599.00, one at $999.00 and the last at $749.00 (actually 2 at the $749.00 price; purchased 2, gave one for a gift). And, I noticed the even crazier deals on the K5 after it was discontinued. I understand the point about the introduction at a lower price point of the K3, but it looks like Ricoh didn't hit the right price for the K3 with the immediate discounting. One can only wonder what could have been accomplished with the K5 if it were to have been introduced at the "right" price, whatever that should have been. Perhaps if it would have sold for $999.00 throughout its product life cycle, rather than the price reductions, etc. from $1,599.00. The price shifting on the K3 so soon after release, erodes my confidence in the price, and am sure I am not alone, as I watch the discussions of "what will the deal be on Friday?". Not that we all don't appreciate a deal, but it's no fun to find out in 30 days how much you could have saved if you had only waited. Will also probably skip the K3 for now and just enjoy the (too many) cameras I am so lucky to own. The K5IIS is just wonderful, by the way.
