I called and asked if they could price match this morning. But I was told that they could not
because that price was lower than their cost. So I ended up ordering from pentaxwebstore.com!
I am really not sure why they did that

They probably hadn't gotten authorization for the deal when you called.

Aww, I ordered one from Adorama for 966.95 with my K-5II kit on Friday, wonder if they will match it.

I called B&H and they matched the price at $899. Now it is lowered to $896 on their website.

Do I really want to haggle over $3 on a $1300 lens?

Heh, I don't think that's even worth the time!

To those of you that have been watching the new price of this lens for a while ...
is this the lowest it has dropped in a while? Or is it in the $1000 range regularly?

Lowest it has been in a year

This is the lowest price since last Black Friday. It is such a highly regarded lens, I thought this would be my only opportunity. Heck the used ones are selling or this price or more on ebay, so it is a great deal. If they discontinue it, I doubt they could actually improve upon the lens. Even with the HD technology (i.e: an extra two letters and WC cost you $150).

Dang it! I snoozed and lost. I didn't see this thread until just now... it's long gone now...

I guess that's a good thing since I REALLY REALLY want this lens but I also REALLY REALLY don't need to spend $900 right now.

It's probably going to be a few months before I am 'serious' about being able to fork out the dough for it...

I won't pay that MAP price no matter what though.

I got mine

But there is no way I would ever pay MAP pricing for any lens.

Of all the various lenses one could own, the FA 31 is the one I was waiting for, to see if there would be a holiday deal. Not that I could really afford it either, so I was subconsciously hoping that there might NOT be a sale! Really, I don't think we'll find it that low again, ever. Ponder ponder ponder... I think I finally put it in my cart at about 11:55 PM.

I think you will see it 1 more time on day 12 of Ricoh's 12 days of Christmas. Might only be for an hour or 2 though.
