That is a great price on a great lens. I have one of these and it is my favorite prime. Only drawback is the size/weight.

Did you have any front focus problems at f/1.4-f/2.0.

I cannot really say I had front focus problems. My Pentax k-x doesn't have a great focusing module, so in practice I don't always hit my targets at those wide apertures. When using a large sheet of paper to perform focusing tests, however, there is no front focus or backfocus specifically at F1.4/F2.0. I needed to put +20 micrometers of adjustment globally for the whole lens.

Thank you. I pulled the trigger and ordered the Sigma 50mm f/1.4. It fills a gap in my quiver of lenses for low light, no flash situations.

I would totally prefer a FA 43 1.9 at $350 new! But that isn't the case at all

I would like a FA43 F1.9, but I do like the Sigma 50's HSM. As such, I got myself a DA*55 F1.4 to replace the Siggy and I am finding it to be one of the best Pentax lenses ever made - in both IQ, build quality, and also WR and silent focusing.

The DA*55 is not comparable to any other of the 50s. I sold my Sigma 50 1.4 to get the DA 55. The Sigma is faster in AF and sharper from 1.4-1.8. After that they are both crazy sharp. Two sigmas for the price of one da 55 though.

My DA*55 is as sharp as my Sigma 50 F1.4 at 1.4, and it is amazingly sharp. And admittedly it is more expensive, but the size, WR, and the handling makes it worth it to me,

I like my FA 50mm F1.4 for it's small size.

None of those charts measure image quality. While I believe the FA 50 1.4 and the Sigma 50 1.4 are fine lenses to say the least, they do not compare in image quality. And my DA 55 is significantly sharper at 1.4 than my FA 1.4 ever was. The FA 50's sweet spot is at 2.0 and it looks really sweet at that point.
