Your Choice of Pentax Camera

Not a bad deal at all! It was $229 just a few hours ago!

Almost got it for myself but sales tax kicked in. It's a good deal otherwise! Anyone going for it?

Just got the MX-1 for my Dad. He'll appreciate the tilting screen and intuitive menu layout. Looks like a helluva camera for $199!

If it wasn't for the fact that I want more lenses, I would have to snag one of these.

What, what?!

I don't need either, but for $200, that's a lotta camera.

Wonder if it'll drop any lower on the MX-1...

I too came close to pulling the trigger but am still continuing to hesitate on this purchase. The sales tax for me would have added another $13, so I'd be paying about $217 for this Woot deal when you include the shipping cost. Still an excellent price of course but psychologically I would prefer to have gotten the camera at $200 flat. Plus if I am paying $217, I might as well fork over another $12 to get the $229 silver version from Adorama which I trust more than Woot, especially in the return department.

I'm hedging my bet that the price will continue to fall-- hopefully Adorama or B&H will sell it for $199 as a fire-sale right after the MX-2 is introduced... and if that doesn't happen, well then oh well, I'm still happy with my K-01 and Canon S95 tag-team combination for casual everyday shooting.

I keep wanting the MX-1, but I keep telling myself I own two Qs, three lenses, and am lusting after two more... so I should probably stick with that system instead of buying a camera that would largely replace it.

I think if you already have Pentax Q, getting the MX-1 would be a bit redundant/duplicative. Of course there is no zoom lens for the Q that is f/1.8-2.5, and if you have the original Q or Q10, your sensor is slightly smaller than the MX-1. Plus the MX-1 has that nifty articulating screen. But nevertheless, I agree that you should stick with your Q's and keep your focus squarely on acquiring those new lenses.

I, on the other hand, have sort of reached my LBA limit with all my lenses, and the only lenses that interest me right now are out of my price range for the foreseeable future (Sigma 18-35, DA 20-40). Hence my interest in scratching my CBA itch with a low-cost MX-1. Hmm. Looking at the many spectacular images taken with MX-1 is doing me no favors.
