It is a decent lens, but not particularly fast-focusing (at least on a K-5). I bought it for $100 more. Anything similar is significantly more $, and the new Tamron is not in the K mount....

When I was checking one of these out, the camera said it was 6.7@500(could have been a different bigma)

That's a pretty reasonable charge considering what it costs to send a tiny item to Europe. You're still under $1k so you won't be charged customs- so I say it's a good deal!

Cheaper from the Aus dealer, I think: SIGMA 150-500mm F5-6.3 APO DG OS HSM TO SUIT PENTAX DIGITAL SLR CAMERA AU$859 and free postage.

Yes, and you get AUS official Sigma distributor-supported warranty.

I did not realize this model is APO, That made be decide to get one, the lack of CA and Bokeh fringing is really nice and evident in sample photos. B&H still had them in stock and I was able to call and use $800 worth of amex rewards cards I had. Thanks specialK

Yay! I thinks it's worth what I paid, so you should be happy, too.

It has to be under AUD 1,000.00 equivalent to avoid being charged GST, at the current exchange rate you'd be up for a 10% "donation" to the government.

US$899 at the current exchange rate is AU$1,022, so even without the freight charge, you're in 10% donation territory. As noted above, the local price of AU$859 puts you way in front (and with local warranty).

I saw Buydig offers free hoya filter and adobe PS / Premiere Elements with this lens. I sent and email to B&H see if they could match that on my just shipped order. No problem they are shipping the bonus items. WOW that is some seriously awesome CS-and on a Sunday
