Pentax SMC DA 40mm limited for $313.99 (or less) + tax, free shipping
Posted By: BabyTeaLeaf, 01-24-2014, 12:26 PM

If anyone's looking for a new "classic" DA 40mm limited, check out Staples (link below). They have a $30 off $150 coupon currently (code: 72103). If you're an AmEx cardholder, you may also qualify for $25 statement credit off a $100 purchase from Staples -- I don't have one so used Ebates instead, but the instructions on SlickDeals is provided (link below). Lastly, If you're a rewards member, I think they may offer 5% cashback too. Hope this helps someone! Estimated possible savings below.

Staples lists DA 40 limited for $343.99
Using coupon for $30 off = $313.99
If you have AmEx, possibly another $25 credit back = $288.99
Staples 5% rewards credit back for Staples Rewards Card members ~ $14 back = $~274.99

Nice find, especially considering that this lens is out of stock on most other sites!

Aren't they the third-largest online retailer or something like that?

Not sure how Staples got into selling Pentax lenses. They don't carry much and don't seem to have any new models, so I'd guess they're just clearing out old stock. Really only the DA40 ltd was listed lower than most other places (excluding tax).

That looks like a nice price for a brand new lens.

Really? I think if it goes on for under $275, HD would lose out to it for most percentage.

I'll bet it will work just as well now as it would if the HD were'nt available.

HD didn't do anything to the way my DA40 'Green' works. It isn't like there was a push Firmware upgrade or something.

I love my obsolete SMC DA 40 Ltd (it's on my K-3 right now). That's a nice price. If I didn't already have one I'd jump on it!

I got the XS version, which is supposed to be optically identical, with my K-01. I love that lens.
