Pentax WG-3: $189
Posted By: Adam, 02-06-2014, 02:48 PM

Now that the Ricoh WG-4 has been announced, the WG-3 is on sale at a great price: just $189

Pentax WG-3 Digital Camera Kit (Black) 12684 B&H Photo Video

Basically the same camera, just with the Pentax logo.

Nick, did you own an earlier Pentax waterproof camera? If so, which one and how do they compare?

I currently have a WG-1 and I'm curious if the upgrade is worth it.

Thanks!

I've been wondering about this. I want a "life proof" camera for my Boy Scout sons.

I just bought one.
Just because it says "Pentax" and it's the last P&S with that name on it.

I'm having a really hard time talking myself out of it! I could use $50 I have from Christmas, $24 credit from buying the k-5ii & make it $115 net out of pocket to me plus get back $7.50. For a life proof camera that my boys can take camping with the Scouts.

While I *just* bought a GoPro Hero3+, I can't ignore the price for the last of the Pentax WG Optios.

I have pretty much owned a WG Optio since they came out and I have never been disappointed.

Having a WG in your pocket is very much "life-proof".

Buy one, you won't be sorry.

Can't they drop the price of the orange one too?

Maybe I'm weird, but I'd prefer orange.

LOL. I saw that.

They won't last long at a price below $200 since the "Ricoh" ones are (almost) twice the price!

In limited use, seems better than the WG-1 I had, lost, and then found again after buying the 3. :-) Also better than an old W30, which has seen better days. I think the faster lens really helps keep the ISO down, which makes a huge difference with these P&S cameras.

The WG-3 is more rugged and it has a sharper lens. Overall the interface is very similar, but it's definitely an upgrade. I'd recommend the GPS version of the WG-3 if you do a lot of outdoor shooting.

I purchased a white WG-3 a few days ago. The last Pentax branded compact camera at a great price. Couldn't pass that up!

I think I will pick one of these up. I need a durable point and shoot for vacations, hiking, and biking, so I don't need to lug my DSLR around. Based on what I read, the WG-4 doesn't have enough new key features to warrant purchasing it over the WG-3. And at this price, it's a steal.
