Is this the new model, or the older model?

A number of people here bought the Rokinon 8mm from buydig/Beach this year, including me, and I would buy from them again as I had no problems with the transaction. With the money you save you can give an additional donation to pentaxforums.

I've bought several non-photo items from Beach/Buydig without issue.

They show only Canon available at this point. Probably just as well, I've got too many lenses as it is! :-)

I thought long and hard about this deal but decided to pass. I just don't need a travel zoom of this kind right now, and my DA 18-135 WR is a good enough substitute. Still, for $250, it's an excellent deal.

I agree that this is a good price for what is probably a very good lens. Does this lens have water seals? The DA 18-135 is water resistant and after traveling to a water park last week with my kids I can't imagine a travel/vacation zoom lens without seals.

No it does not. That's probably why, for some people, the DA 18-135 would be sufficient and even necessary for its WR in a trade-off with the extra zoom range up to 250mm of the Sigma.

Moreover, the optical IQ of the 18-135 is far superior to the 18-250.

There is a large thread on slickdeals about this offer.. A LOT of people thanking the OP and saying they just bought because they won't have to switch lenses anymore. No thought of IQ, Speed, AF ability, or anything beyond it is cheap and I won't have to switch between the 18-55 and the 50-200 kit lenses now. And not one or two.. but many. Nikon and Canon mostly.. .

The entry level market is alive and well.. but I'm not sure, outside of the initial camera purchase, there is much money in it for the manufacturers.

Saw a couple people also, same thread, wondering if that was a good Macro lens... since it says macro it must be a macro lens.. /facepalm. So I have a macro lens.. I don't have to switch lenses.. this is awesome!! haha

I wonder if the optical IQ on the Pentax 18-135 is that much better. I've heard people say it's good but not all that good, and it's main attraction rather than superior IQ is its convenient range and WR making it a good walk around lens. I don't have one myself so I can't say.

I think our fellow member @jimr-pdx might be able to tell us. He's owned both and has some thoughts posted on his blog about both of the zooms:
