On the website they said Check Stock and the sale only starts tomorrow, I called DigiDirect in Sydney because they have comparable pricing right now and was told all of the A7 and A7r were sold out this morning like an hour ago, only 1 A7S left on the shelf...They may have them in their Melbourne store though. At these prices I may just throw caution to the wind and buy the A7(after selling off a few of the lenses in my collection)

I thought Pentax bodies drop in RPP quickly, but price for A7 body had dropped about half since launch less than 1 year ago!

I was hoping to end up with two camera bodies….a K3 and a FF hi megapixel at some stage (mostly for pentax lenses, the FF would be for slow considered shots with my 31/43/77). I have a K5II right now….so am in two minds as to wether to get a K3 now….and wait to see what happens in the FF world….or get a A7R now. I'm off for a holiday to Turkey and the Greek Isles in September and I wanted a 2nd body to take so will have to decide one way or the other.

I wish the K3 would drop….but no hope there for some time I reckon (especially in Australia)….to my mind, the release of the gunmetal limited K3 signals that this model has a way to go.

For info, here are the two ads I've seen for this deal.

The DigiDirect ad I got is a tad misleading though - it suggests you need to visit a store to get their extra $300 discount on top of the Sony $300 cashback, but if you look at their website the price is already showing their discount and says nothing of requiring a walk-in in order to qualify.

This is also putting the pressure on Canon and Nikon - both are also running deals for several hundred off their FF's. Nothing like the $550 or $600 Sony are slashing though.

OK I can stop thinking about it now, price has gone back to normal $1599 range(before the $300 cashback).

I wonder what's motivating this Sony price-slashing. New A7 models coming? (A8?)

Perhaps related, I've also recently started to see a few batches of 'reconditioned' A7r's and A7's being flogged off by Sony through Grays.
