I just purchased a 55-300 WR a couple days ago and thankfully when I called Adorama they gave me an in-store credit for the price drop. I can't wait to get it tomorrow and take it for a spin

I note that Adorama has the same deal on the 60-250mm, with free shipping and 4% rewards, but including a 3 year drop & spill warranty from New Leaf, which B&H does not. B&H offers a 3 year warranty through Square Trade for $186.00, whereas the price Adorama charges for the New Leaf warranty is $50.00, so I assume that the Square Leaf warranty is significantly better. Still.
I looked into the warranty that Adorama offers, although better than nothing it has its limitations. If the lens requires a new part and they replace it and it doesn't fix the problem they will just give you the remainder of the money for a credit (minus the money they already spent on the parts) i.e. they won't spend any more than the actual cost of the lens. So you won't necessarily get a "new" one. However, it's better to have some money towards a new lens that none. "If that makes any sense!"

How often do they have sales like this? Any guesses as to whether we'll see another like it between now and Christmas?

I tried Googling "cons of DA* 50-135" to convince myself not to take advantage of this deal. That backfired because most discussions were people asking for pros and cons of the lens, followed by heaps of praise in reply. But darn it, I must resist!
The only thing I can't tell you is that it's supposed to focus slowly.

There will be black friday deals for sure, and they usually have sales on lots of lenses. I am holding off until Black Friday because the deals seem to get better every year.

These look like meager limited time price reductions. I would wait for BF too.

That said, Canon just announced permanent price reductions to a lot of their lens lineup... hoping Pentax does something like this and gets us back to pre 2012 prices.

From your lips to Ricoh's ears, but, eh, I don't think that will happen. I think Canon's been in a bit of a rut body & sensor-wise compared to Pentax, so Canon needs to do something to stimulate sales. A lot of Canon users have their lens needs more or less covered, so Canon's trying to push them to buy. Pentax users are pushing Pentax for more lenses, so Pentax probably doesn't feel the need to permanently cut prices. I wish they would, though. These "sale" prices should be the regular SRP.

1100$ is the best price I've seen for a new 60-250, ever. It's not likely to go down much more than that.
