Wow, some great deals. I'm tempted on the FA 77mm f/1.8, but I wonder if black friday might bring an even better deal?

Can't produce them fast enough to meet demand, supposedly.

That's a nice price on the 60-250. Tempting, but I'm not really a tele guy. Oh, and also I don't have a spare $1100.

I note that Adorama has the same deal on the 60-250mm, with free shipping and 4% rewards, but including a 3 year drop & spill warranty from New Leaf, which B&H does not. B&H offers a 3 year warranty through Square Trade for $186.00, whereas the price Adorama charges for the New Leaf warranty is $50.00, so I assume that the Square Leaf warranty is significantly better. Still.

So open up shop in the EU. Shipping and customs kill all these deals.

I tried Googling "cons of DA* 50-135" to convince myself not to take advantage of this deal. That backfired because most discussions were people asking for pros and cons of the lens, followed by heaps of praise in reply. But darn it, I must resist!

LOL My thoughts exactly.

The only lens left on my want list however is the 77mm. Believe it or not I am quite happy with what I have.

My most rarely used lens is the 70mm so I don't know if a 77mm would get any more use. In the end though I will probably end up with one. Eventually.

But as for the K-3... different story.

I'm pleased to say that I pretty much have all I want and need when it comes to Pentax glass. If they ever actually come out with the 135-400mm WR zoom to go with the 18-135mm WR and it's somewhat affordable, I will definitely consider it as an upgrade from my DA 55-300. And I'd love a Pentax branded version of the Tamron 16-300 with WR and Pentax coatings. But neither of those lenses even exists yet so I'm good for now.

The solution to this matter is simple... buy me the lens and I'll (try to) tell you how horrible it is.

I was looking at the offers in the deal referenced in this thread and saw the 18-270 lens.. and thought wow.. that is a strange lens.

I mean it is a superzoom that isn't that fast, yet has HSM, yet costs 600+ dollars, yet doesn't have weather sealing. It is as if Pentax finished that lens during opposites day.

The DA 18-270 is a Pentax-branded version of the Tamron 18-270. It has Pentax coatings and costs substantially more than the Tamron version. Since there aren't any new Tamron-branded lenses in K-mount, Pentax can charge what it wants. Since I still have the DA 18-250 that cost a lot less when it was introduced, I can sit this one out.

Frankly, I doubt about the coatings.
Otherwise, neither 18-250 nor 18-270 have Quick shift, probably because even the motors are Tamron's.
