HMRC will also hit you with customs duty and VAT so be sure to take that into account.
even if I have to pay duty it should only be @ 25% so another 30 still a bargain......

I promised sample photos but apparently I forgot. Better late than never. Each photo has a full size link in the page somewhere.

Just an update on this lens, especially for anyone overseas thinking of getting it via a friend.

My first copy of this lens from the Sigma site severely, and I mean severely, front-focussed. So much so that even at f5 and a couple of metres away from my daughter I couldn't get a single part of her body infocus. It also had problems with focus at the wide end, at 24mm/2.8 I took a picture of my backyard and nothing was in focus (I mean nothing, not the grass at my feet nor the rooftops 50 metres away, nor anything in between). Not only that but I suspect it was very decentred. I asked for a replacement, which they were happy to do, but the second copy I got was someone else's return, missing some packaging and also front focussing (but to a lesser extent) although not seemingly decentred. They then offered a credit for me returning the replacement which I've accepted, I don't want to play roulette anymore.

I've done a bit of research on people's experiences with this lens and it seems if you get a good copy then it's fantastic, but if you get one with severe focus issues then it may not be a simple matter of focus adjust in camera as some users have reported inconsistent focus issues with it even after having been repaired/calibrated professionally and others have also reported relative softness (compared with initially-good copies) after repair/calibration.

I think they still have a few copies left but I know there's at least two sub-standard copies in that pool, so if you're going to jump in then good luck!

Pity about your bad experience with the lens.
Out of curiosity, which camera were you using it with?

K-x and K-01.

I'm used to adjusting focus on my K-x via Debug, my 77 requires some. These lenses, especially the first sample, were in another ballpark from any other lens I've ever used (I've used over 40 AF lenses on my cameras, by no means an expert but a reasonable sample size). I took 30-40 sample pics using both lenses, they were both terrible using PDAF and would require extreme focus adjustment.

The K-01 pics for the second lens were much better, but still no sharper than my old Sigma 17-70/2.8-4.5 and it mis-focussed a fair bit on the K-01 too.

New Sigma 24-60 f2.8 EX DG AUD$249 shipped

Hi,

I have just received one of these that I just bought at that price, must have a good stock of them still. Very nice, solid with a great feel. The zoom ring and focus ring are really nice and it sits great in my hand when on my K30. I am looking forward to getting out and having a proper go with this lens. In the meantime here are a couple of quick shots from around my neighbourhood, just basic adjustments in ACR and no sharpening applied. I was pleasantly surprised at how close you can focus at the 60mm end.

Cheers

Jason

That looks like Canberra somewhere.
Poplars, empty parks, empty streets, underpasses, painted out graffiti, dry grass.
