Adorama - DA*16-50 (E-): $549
Posted By: JinDesu, 10-06-2014, 01:41 PM

Used Pentax Smcp-da* 16-50 2.8 Ed-al(if) Sdm

Adorama has the DA*16-50 F2.8 lens in E- condition for $549. That's about the lowest price I see anyone sell it used, so coming from Adorama that's pretty cheap.

E- condition: Barrel shows signs of wear and/or moderate usage. Lens glass may have some dust / spots that should not affect picture quality.

That's a great price for the 16-50. You can add a 2-year warranty Used Mack 2 Year Used Extended Warranty For 35mm Lens With A Retail Value Of Up To $1000.00 - U212 for $32.50, giving you a lens that's less than half the cost of a new 16-50 and a longer warranty.

Or check first to see if it's been made in the past 2 years and doesn't have the flawed SDM design....

Or if you are in NYC, just check it out in person. Adorama's great that way.

If I have time maybe I'll check it out and report if the SDM requires waking up/makes odd squeaks.

I would get it (if I didn't own one). The SDM hack is easy and I own one that is 6 years old and going strong (could fail any day, but doesn't show any signs of doing so).

I took amazing care of my two.
It happened to one of them.
It was a "newer" version.
I am convinced that it's not a case of *if*, but *when*.
Before I get in a jam, I went ahead and did the SDM hack on the other.

It's still there, as is a 16-50 in E+ condition for $649.

I guess it's already sold. I tried the "add to cart" and got, "Sorry, exceeded the warehouse quantity limit."

It is a gorgeous lens, I see no evidence of wear. First experience with SDM, the silence is really something. I've only taken a few test shots, but the rendering seems really special. I think this will live on the K3 for a while.

The DA* 16-50 with the K-3 really delivered the goods on my last two assignments. Enjoy!
