And we're nearly back to where we were 18 months ago. That is a good deal, however the 60-250mm is treating me well....

I wonder, due to the dropping yen?

CAUTION. I ordered one of these, and it shipped from "Active Trade", who is not an authorized Richo/Pentax re-seller. Additionally, it arrived without the warranty card, which is needed for any warranty service.
That being said, I am returning it, which is a shame, because it is a sweet lens. I just cannot afford to have a $1,100.00 SDM lens with no warranty.

FYI, I just purchased the DA* 50-135 from Another Deal Site, and it is in fine shape.

Pentax lenses do not come with a warranty card - just a serial number card. And for warranty purposes the only thing required is a copy of your receipt. If the item purchased was "fulfilled by Amazon" which it shows that "Active Trade" is, then it is fine. If you print out your invoice you will see it is from Amazon.

Not true.

"Fulfilled by Amazon" just means that the seller has sent the item to Amazon's warehouse for distribution. The item is neither sourced nor sold by Amazon, who is merely an intermediary, and there is no guarantee that such goods are not grey market.
So what is "not true" about what I said?

I spent quite a while on the phone with both Pentax support, as well as Amazon, and the consensus was that the unit does not qualify for a US Warranty, as it was not sold by an authorized dealer.

Basically, if they are not listed in this link, then don't buy from them unless you are comfortable with no warranty.

OK - I stand corrected after reading this section in your link:

QuoteQuote:
While Amazon is an authorized online dealer of Ricoh Imaging product, many resellers who sell through
Amazon are not. When purchasing, it is important to note where the product is being “shipped from
and sold by,” which is stated in the header for each product on Amazon.com
I've purchased from 3rd party sellers on Amazon before and never had a question about the warranty. But as it turns out that seller was in fact on the list.

That is the first time I've seen that link posted with the paragraph about Amazon and 3rd party sellers - good information for everyone.

I bought a DFA 100mm 2.8 WR macro from Another Deals Site through Amazon earlier this year. It didn't have a warranty card specific to the lens, only a note listing certified repair centers worldwide for the pentax international warranty. This didn't prevent me from having the faulty focus ring repaired in France free of charge, after presenting only a printout of my amazon invoice.
