Originally posted by Samwise.Gamgee I know this might sound stupid but a few days back I was in TED'S Camera and asked for Pentax K3 (Just becuase I noticed it was missing in the shelf) and the sales person said it's discontinued and a new model is coming next January. BS?
Originally posted by aleonx3 Possible that a new model may come out next Jan/2015; but the real question is: did they sell all the k-3 inventory they have or did they just make up some story to entice you to buy other brands?
I've always said that the only reason to lower prices that way, beside competiion pressure, is that a new replacement product is coming out to the market.
In a previous post at the beginning of this thread, I also said that based on Pentax's history, is about time to launch an improved version of the "flaship", as it was done with the PZ1-PZ1P, Zx5-ZX5n, ist*-istD, K5-K5II-K5IIs...... all within 18 to 24 months after introduction on new flagship.
Another strong indicator that a new improved flagship is coming, is that the price drop is based around the K3 only ( and some leftover inventory of K5 models) but no price drops on other current models in production.
