Cool marketing strategy. This is one version back from current. How is the support for current version cameras/lenses?

Found it...

For the free version (v8) linked above:

http://www.dxo.com/sites/dump.dxo.com/files/dxoimages/photo/contest/2014-10-...tics-Pro-8.pdf

Flagship: K10D through K-5 IIs
Mid: K200D, K-m, K-x, K-r, K-30
Other: K-01, Ricoh GR

DxO provides a compatibility wizard on their site for the current version (v9) and it supports up through the K-3.

I understand the one version behind approach, however just up to the K7? If I like it, then what are my options? With the current version just up to the K5IIs with no K3 support (its been a year now), I think I'll just pass on the whole thing. It's not worth the effort...

It works for K-50 DNG and JPG files, despite not showing this in the listing for cameras supported. It doesn't work with K-3 DNG files.

Oops!...no. Version 8 supports up through the K-5 IIs and version 9 (current) through the K-3. I boo-boo'ed and will revise my earlier post

Somewhat related ...

So -- Lens correction aside, how does DxO stack up to Topaz Labs for PP?

That makes sense. The K-50 is so very similar to the K-30.

Good question. The reviews for v8 are somewhat mixed, while those for v9 praise the RAW converter and noise reduction. I would be curious about the LR integration. Supposedly you can do a full-round trip with the DxO edited image being leafed into a stack with the original in LR.

Thanks for the info.
Software should be like this more often! As pro you pay premium bucks for the newest version. As enthusiast... get the last version free (or cheap).

And with the money saved you could have bought the current DxO version. Err, hold on...

Then in that case, since it supports my K5, I'll reconsider and try it out... Thanks!!

They aren't directly comparable. DxO is primarily a RAW processer/editor, Topaz are plug-ins.

DxO v8's in-built photo editing capabilities are decent, but not fancy like Photoshop. Quite aside from the lens correction features, it has a lot of useful film emulations and camera profiles built in, good sharpening tools, very good geometric distortion correction features, some nice presets like the single-shot HDR one etc built in. Lots to play with. Under this deal, for $0, you get a lot.

Usefully, having a copy of v8 loaded makes any move to v9 cheaper, since it's then at upgrade prices.
