Originally posted by stormtech I've been very happy with my K-5IIs - just phenomenal IQ - so much so that I've never even been tempted by the newer K-3. I bought a used K-30 from a great forum member here over a year ago as a backup/second body. Truth be told once I did the fine tune adjustments with it and my DA* lenses it comes very close in IQ - just a tad less than the IIs. But certain things just make me love the IIs - the awesome soft shutter sound, the beautiful build quality, and use of the grip. I do a lot of wildlife photograahy with my DA* 300 and DA* 60-250 and the grip has been essential for my arthritic hands to hold it.
You do realize that the grip for the IIs comes with an AA battery tray, right?
Thank you for the info and your opinion. I was thinking to sell the grip to keep my upgrade cost lower... (but maybe I will keep it)
I don't own any heavy lenses like DA*s and don't think I would like the grip on it as it will make the package much larger and heavier.
What exact setting did you fine tune on K-30 to get IQ better besides "focus +/- for lenses" ?
Thanks for your feedback and the info!!!
