"Available for backorder" is their escape clause. I posted a 'send me an e-mail when in stock' notice when this link was posted, hopefully that will bring results soon.

This looks familiar. I sure hope this isn't another listing error like the last time they had this deal up. Typically you can only get this lens at this price if you purchase a camera with it.

For $10 more you can have it quite soon via amazon used where emmyphoto has/had an unopened 'used' copy. It's a very nice lens and tempting, but my budget is still digesting a few other expenses.

Finally got an email response, i guess i am still waiting, maybe a shipment will come in before black friday, who knows.

FWIW, I received an email from Sure Source encouraging me not to cancel my order for the DA 50mm f1.8. They "expect" to ship within 30 days ( 54 from when I placed the order).

I saw mixed reports on the lens performance wide open. Some said great while others noted softness and chromatic aberration. If you're commenting on this thread anyways and own one I'd appreciate any feedback

It's a little soft at F1.8, but it is sharp at F2.2-F2.5. That being said it is difficult to get it in focus at F1.8 and that contributes to the perception of sotness. Also, my wife liked the F1.8 more, because her skin looked better, so maybe this slight softness is not such a bad thing....

Still waiting but at least i received the following email communication yesterday. I ordered the lens october 12th, i believe.

Due to an unusually large response, we are temporarily out of stock

How reliable is the webstore? I remember that several times there have been questions about delivery problems with the store. Some have said that it is not run by Pentax.
