Aussies... BnH is now accessible
Posted By: tromboads, 11-12-2014, 06:36 PM

ShopMate

Everyone in AU just got a USA postal address. Thanks Aussie Post

They are charging a basic rate for forwarding back to AU instead of the usual $80+ FEDEX and US Post rip us with.

BAM!

500g $25
1.5kg $42
3kg $60

So that's a K5IIs delivery for $650 :P

Merry Freekin Christmas.

I think he means that now there is an alternative to direct shipping from B&H to Australia, via the new Australia-Post operated shipping proxy service.

I've found FedEx and UPS to be pretty good, but leaving the items at the local post office for pickup certainly suits me better than having to contact couriers for redelivery, give consent to leave, risk theft, etc.

Sorry to be a grinch but Australia Post still won't carry lithium batteries by air. They're listed under the dangerous and prohibited item that can't be carried by air.

Okay, but what about whoever they subcontracted in the States to do this?

Maybe Fedex for all we know!

Exactly Surely they are just now letting consumers buy into spare wholesale shipment cargo that went unused..

looking into it more its not that good... Now you will be paying import tax on items you might have otherwise "forgotten to declare"

The best alternative I see is shipito (USA Address & Mail Forwarding – Shipito.com | English) and selecting TNT. 3kg is down to about $45 and you would not need to pay tax. "giggle giggle"

I won't speak ill of Australia Post (they know where I live )

"Items containing lithium batteries" is also listed on the shipping restrictions page of the Shop Mate Shopping Guide

Ah bum.

Gees it's all just too hard. stoopid postal services grumble grumble.

Wait can't we send batteries by boat still? Their terms read like it won't happen no way regardless. Ah well.

(Sorry Pentaxforums. tried to get some clickbait through BnH for you.. gord knows we would like to buy them at the cost they sell 'em)

NZ post has had this service for quite a while now. (Bit of a dig there)

But battery wise, yeah there are some weird rules and regs about that. Buying new in a device - they don't seem to mind, but buy the battery alone and all the alarms go off.

When returning my K-30 to the UK for a warranty service (grrr they don't make them like they used to...) I had to go home and repackage without the battery. Was told it could go if inside the device but they would have to drop test my package from 1.2m in the shop?!!! No thanks!!! Very weird.
