Pentax web store sales
Posted By: Homo_erectus, 11-27-2014, 11:41 AM

The Pentax web store has some great sales today. Official Pentax Online Store | Pentax Digital Cameras | Pentax Webstore

The FA 31mm Limited is on sale for 773! smcP FA 31mm f/1.8 Limited (Black) | Pentax Webstore

The D-FA 50mm Macro is 303. smcP D-FA 50mm f2.8 Macro | Pentax Webstore

There are a lot of other lenses on sale as well although the price cuts are not quite as high generally.

I just ordered the 31mm :-)

Just spoke to Pentax on the phone about my FA31 order. They said it will be $1300 or it will be cancelled, the Black Friday pricing was a mistake and my email and invoice is not valid. I can either accept this or cancel. END OF STORY.
This is exactly what the Pentax Webstore did during the fiasco of 2013! Best wishes for a hopeful solution.

I just got a UPS shipping notification from Suresource. It's scheduled to come tomorrow. Signature required.

And Pentax-Ricoh USA did precisely what then? Nothing. This is getting really old IMHO.

The status for my order per the PWS website hasn't yet changed from "pending approval". My credit card still shows a pending $1300 charge as well.

For all those who were charged full price on backordered items, please cancel the orders. Pentax Web Store is reverting to bait and switch tactics. I dont agree that they are run by clowns or incompetent folks. Put it mildly they are run by not-very-ethical-policy people. It appears by now that Pentax Web Store did indeed honor a few on-sale prices. But a lot of those backorders were charged full price.

I took monochrome's advice and sent the following to Jim Malcolm, Pres of Pentax USA.

Dear Mr. Malcolm,

I'm a Pentaxian. It's just that simple, I own 4 Pentax cameras (K-5iis, K-01, Q, and an old K1000).

I'm trying to give you a genuine heads up so you can continue to rehab Pentax's image in the US. The "official" webstore is a nightmare and causing lots of issues for Pentax. Perhaps you are already aware, but this last week was another fiasco for Pentax IMHO.

Please refer to the following thread on the Pentax Forums:

Regards,

RWM

So yours has shipped and you ordered on the 28th?

Did you get a sense that your phone convo with them had something to do with getting the shipment out?

It seems pretty coincidental.

For those of you who could use a chuckle... click on the "Pentax Price Watch" link at the top of this thread. It will take you to the root of the price watch forum. It's rather humorous which thumbnail the site chose for this thread.

Just a heads up for anyone else who took advantage of the Q7 sale. I was charged the correct amount and I should be receiving the camera on Friday if tracking is to be trusted.

Hmmm, I orderd a 55-300 on the 27th for $258. Then I got a message from the webstore saying there was a problem with my CC and that they will hold my order for me until I contact them and below it has a small detail of what I ordered with the total cost of $258. I contacted the webstore to update my CC info in order for it to go through. That was yesterday.
A pending debit for the full cost of $449 is sitting in my account now.

Wondering if anyone has had the full charge pending then changed back to the sale price once shipped?
My order still shows pending approval on the webstore tracking, but it still shows my old credit card info in the billing information header.

Like everyone else, you should be ready to get charged the full retail price when the item ships and then work with a live Customer Service representative to walk back the charges for a partial refund later. If you don't like this, Customer Service will cancel the prior order and place a new one...which if the item is on backorder will have you at the right price but undetermined shipping date.

Either way, it's crucial to hold onto that original email you got when you placed your order on the 27th...Pentax Webstore may ask you to send them their own records!

Oh, Ricoh did something. First, they cancelled most of the orders, and then offered a token of a rebate for their "mistake".

They got me last year, but not this time. I learn from mistakes.
