Neat camera but slow to use. Not a top pick for a grab it and shoot type point and shoot. The On/Off is built into manually pulling out and then twisting the lens. Image quality is decent, however.

That said, I'd probably go for an S110 if I was looking for a faster point and shoot.

Fuji's were my first cameras so I'm kind of addicted. I still love the e900 (aka. "The brick"), F30, S200exr, S100fs and others. They just feel and work naturally to me for what I shoot and I like Fuji colors and the Astia, Provia, Velvia options. There's probably something wrong with me

For $150, it's just something I can take with me when I don't want to grab my Pentax gear or don't want to get my Pentax stuff damaged on certain hikes.

DxO Marks gave it essentially the same rating as the MX-1. That's odd given that this appears to have a much larger sensor.

I found an Amazon deal late last year on one for $180.
Loved the images, but tired of the lens twist on/off and zoom.
After buying a MX-1 for $200, I recently sold the XF1 on eBay for what I paid.

robtcorl - How does the low light IQ between the two compare?

Hard for me to say since I don't do much low light, both are good IMO.
I will say though the Pro Low Light feature on the XF1 is great for stills, and a nice feature.
It combines 4 rapid shots to reduce noise.
The MX-1 at full optical zoom is f2.5, and I think the XF1 is about f4.

A pretty good review is found here:

So, seems like a nice little camera, but not necessarily an upgrade if you already have the MX-1, even with the larger sensor.

So now I'm sitting here with unopened Fuji XF-1 and Olympus XZ-2 cameras sitting in front of me... I can't keep both, and I don't know which one to open

The XF1 that I had worked beautifully, but some Amazon reviewers said they were getting a 'lens control error' after a period of time.
Didn't sound like Fuji's CS was much help either.

I have an XF-1 and I'm very pleased with the image quality. No problems with it, either. I get lots of remarks about the "cool camera," too. But... even with the two-thirds sensor, the lens stops down very fast. The XZ-2's lens stays much brighter for much longer and external controls are generally superior. I prefer the XF-1's manual zoom but I could certainly live with the XZ-2's power zoom. I'd open the Olympus box first.

The XZ-2 can be configured to allow control of the zoom from the control ring on the lens. It works well; better in my hands than that little rocker switch at the shutter release button.

I've only had the XZ-2 a couple days. It's a powerful little beast that has a lot to like. The lens is so fast you can shoot stuff you normally wouldn't and get decent results. It has a quality feel to it and focuses very fast. There is not competition in the sub- $200 price range, and with the configurable lens ring it offers a lot of flexibility to the user.

Now I'm off to go and find the XZ-2's SCP (super control panel menu) that I heard about.

See if this works on the XZ-2... it does on most of Olympus's better cameras:
