From my experience, Ricoh Imaging Canada (formerly Pentax Canada) is pretty good about honoring the warranty of any Pentax camera with the sticker on the box that says "2 Year Canadian Warranty" (which they imported into Canada), but they require a receipt to know when that 2 years started. Quickndone saying they are not an authorized dealer might make their receipt less likely to be accepted, regardless of where they got them (probably Vistek).

Any Canadians who bought one should ask Ricoh Canada for clarification, otherwise they're in the same 1-year Int'l warranty zone as Americans, or, for example, Canadians who bought from B&H or Adorama in the states.

Good idea, I'm going to contact Ricoh tomorrow and get to the bottoms of this.

BTW is CameraSpot (CameraSpot was offering $100 mail-in rebate off $795 K-3 retail price on Amazon purchase) 'US Authorized dealer', so worth to pay for $19.95 extended Pentax 2y guarantee?
Any experience how this CameraSpot rebate works (they say neccessary paperwork is included with the shipped camera)?

The end of the year deals on packages were in the same ballpark--K-3body. Battery grip and DA18-135 for a little more than $1,000. This is about the point in the product cycle when I usually buy, and I bought a second one. I'm stuck on 24mp, with no AA filter. I have hardly picked up another DSLR body. Either th K-3 or the Sony A6000 get almost all my use.

I just got off the phone with Ricoh Canada and they told me the purchase has to be from an authorized Pentax dealer and it doesn't seem quickndone fits the bill so there will be no 2 yr canadian warranty.

How to obtain 1-year international Pentax guarantee then (for servicing in Europe)? Write to Pentax (Ricoh) Canada (where the item was bought), to Pentax (Ricoh) US (where the item was shipped by seller), or to Pentax (Ricoh) Europe (where the item finds its final destination)?

Just bought a new K-3 through PopFlash Photo's Ebay store front. They are listed as an authorized dealer both on their site and on Ricoh's list.
Made an offer for $675 and it went through (they declined $650 but there may have been a bit more room to work).
