Not as good as Sigma, but still a killer deal!

Totally agree. I don't think this lens is worth $499, but $285 is a good deal for someone on budget.

I purchased this lens from this seller almost a month ago.

This seller is a Canada Tamron authorized seller, and Canada Tamron was able to register the lens for 6-year Canada warranty, plus one year international warranty.

Somehow my copy of this lens isn't so great, get lots of weird soften images from wide open F2.8. I am planning to try F4 to see if this will fix the issue.

Check your focus. I had one that was a -10 and once I set it it performed extremely well. The only thing that the Sigma has over the Tamron is silent focus. When the Tamron copy is good - they are totally worth it.

Not a bad deal if you're looking for a new lens! I checked out the other items for sale and there are deals to be had for those who are shopping. Good find!

I got one from Prodigital2000 last summer. From day one it had a tendency to underexpose my 1-2 stops. After the first trip to the Tamron repair facility, it came back in far worse shape, it would over-expose by
something like 2 stops, and it was quite apparent that the aperture wasn't opening completely when it was supposed to be wide open. After the second trip to the Tamron repair shop, it came back working properly.

( of course, none of that is the fault of Prodigital2000 )

I've got a bit of softness in the corners on the wide end, even stopped down, but it's far sharper than my 18-55WR at similar focal length/aperture.

If you get a good copy, it can be razor sharp.
