The 18-35 has now been taken off the site. Presumably we just bought the lot. Rawr, howie, clackers and myself. I will post on the condition of mine when it arrives. Im expecting the same as rawr, these must have been demo stock. Not overly impressed if so.

Well I can report it came with no hood. Was a hood meant to be included?

Hard to say whether it was meant to have one in the box or not. But some of the FA J 18-35's sold on this forum have had hoods (eg link below). So it's a possibility.

Well, I think that says it all. All trust has now gone. Treating customers in that way is totally unacceptable.

And now lots of people know about it. Well done!

I don't want to be mean to Teds. Don't get me wrong. I've bought stuff from Teds (and their predecessor) for years without incident, including Pentax gear. But their effort this time was a bit disappointing.

Thank you everyone who offered to help me out getting one. Lots of friendly folks! I'm all taken care of now. (appears that they are out of stock.)

Update.

I got a lens hood! But no caps. Clearly display stock, has been handled and mounted on bodies.

Cool. I have about 4 different sized 67mm screw on hoods that will do the job, but the original hood mounts nicer. One day I'll track one down somewhere.

Tiny lens isn't it? Light, good performing plastic lenses like the DAL 18-55 kit lens on my K-x helped me overcome my prejudice against plastic lenses, so I am keeping an open mind on this one.

I was quite happy with my da 18-55 until it died. Likewise the fa j 75-300 that came with my k10 kit was also under rated imo. I accidentally bashed it against a chair and the zoom gears died but that was my fault. So im not bothered too much by the pentax plastic lens line. They usually have good optics for the price point.

This one gives me a cheap, FF wide angle zoom. It wont really come into its own until FF is available ( or i buy a film slr), and a bit faster would be handy, but no complaints so far (only taken a couple of snaps on the k10. K5 is charging). Focus seems accurate and it seems decent wide open ( as you'd expect at f4 / f5.6 , i guess). I also seem , except when shooting sports, to be moving "wider" in my FL choice in general shooting so this could become the default walk-about lens for a while. Just a shame it cant throw backgrounds into bokeh, lol.

Good work. Which of the random "extra's" did you score or miss out on?

Hi fellow Aussie Pentaxians, I received my order today and luckily it came with all the 'extras': hood, caps as well as the lens. Given others' misfortune, I felt I won a lottery. Had a quick test on K-3 and it appears focus is accurate. Very light but well built. Hope to put it on the FF one day...

I got caps and hood, but no warranty card.

I love playing lucky dip! :-D

IQ looked okay, too, even glancing in-camera.
