OK, I know this is an amazing lens. But the Samyang 85mm f/1.4 is $259. So is this lens 15 times better?

Just curious..........

Maybe if you have 15x more money - I hear there's about 1% of folks with way more than 15x more, so they might like this for a while.

This seems like a ridiculous price compared to prices paid on the database (this converts to US $3090)

Kerrowdown's "Lady Luck" might start expecting the royal treatment.
My K135/2.5 is feeling like pretty good value.

It's worth what someone pays for it. I won't - you likely won't (anyone reading this) but someone might. If they don't, the price will fall or it will not sell.

Is the IQ that much better - doubtful. Is it better at all - I suspect for some uses yes. Is it nuts to pay that much? Depends on the future upside to the price.

It is a price of a new Canon 5D3+ Canon 135 F2L. I just feel sad for how a Pentaxian can suffer from those crazy asks. Anyway, for those rich people, $1000 or $3000 or $30000 just a small number to them...

Yeah, it does.

I think you could nearly buy two theoretical HD Pentax D FA* 135 F1.8 ED DC AW lenses for that price!

This is a rare high quality well built lens and it gets collector prices. Is a Ferrari from the 1960’s worth 2 million, when you can get a couple new ones for that price?

Although this seller is on the high side, but not that much.

A M- to LN condition one sold for $2842 on eBay in June 2014 and KEH sold an EX to EX+ one for $2570 in Sept 2013.

If you want the best 135mm that Pentax has ever made then…….

Phil.

Sorry old glass is great, not that great. I don't think i could live that long too, for it to recoup its value.

For a rare item like this, the price is believable, even if it is on the high side. It is the sort of listing that might make you drool.

I find it far less odd/offensive/out of place/just plain wacko than a listing for a M50/2 for $250.

I can only assume the seller thinks he has a 1.2 and just doesn't know better.

Nah, if he thought that he would be asking $850

True. As a lens it cannot be worth that much when equivalents are available at far less. But to fill out a collection, as a piece of history, yes it is worth whatever the market will bear. I like to collect lenses as well, but my budget is much more modest. Maybe after I win the lottery..........

The price is too high - period!

This is a speculative attempt to take advantage of the supply - demand curve. We know there are few of them in existence. Also, one other factor to consider. If someone in AUstralia wants this lens and buys it from OS then you will be stung with GST tax (10%) and other costs (customs etc). Out dollar has also recently crashed ..... making OS purchases even more expensive.

Domestically, this item would probably sell at sub $3K but not where it is at now. Anyway good luck to them - as I like the alternative suggestion of a new Canon 5D3+ Canon 135 F2L. Makes sense.

It's way more than I paid but I can't say I'd complain about a dramatic appreciation in value.
