mrNewt, there you go again, more information that's bad for my wallet... but I have wondered from time to time what happened to their used section. I have also purchased used from their Ottawa store (downtown) that has a corner display with with some Pentax glass in it, as does the downtown store. SO, I'm really unclear as to how it works, they used to be a single store, now they're a chain.

But all of the schools in Mississauga taught with K1000s, so it wouldn't surprise me at all if Mississauga was a hotbed of Pentax activity. All the HS photography students we're Pentax indoctrinated.

I've never been in the Henry's Mississauga store, for everything I did, including purchases, my board always dealt directly with Pentax and I've been in the old Mississauga repair facility many times.
Well, you know what they are saying... "brothers in arms" .

Things are disappearing very fast in that store once they have "new" stuff coming in.
Last time I was there (last week), half the store was empty and they were expecting "new" stuff to come in. Lately I usually buy print paper only (quality paper at sometimes very low, low prices). I try and stay away from their camera gear because I usually end up buying more than I want/need.

They don't have as much Pentax gear as they use to so probably your wallet might be safe... They still have a lot of old lenses, but not the "good stuff". Usually "the good stuff" disappears in the same day (I think a lot of people have connections in the store...). But they have newer lenses and bodies at decent "Canadian" prices.

I've seen good deals on tripods, studio lights, printers... bags and so on. Bad place to go shopping...

Watching out of curiosity.

I understand why they don't allow pre-inspection of ebay items for locals, but you wonder if they'd make exceptions for the high ticket stuff

I've never been a big Henry's fan- 9(?) years later I'm still waiting for the Pentax brand m42 adapter I ordered from them. I'd still trust them more than a random ebay seller though, I know where their stores are

They're used stuff is actually pretty good. I've purchased both through their website and through an eBay auction and haven't had any problems. The online auction is good because you can go pick it up from their outlet center in Mississauga. For new stuff though I'd rather give Downtown Camera my business since their prices tend to be just a bit better and they don't push accessories and extended warranties on you the way the Henry's downtown location does.

Another good store in GTA area for Pentax gear is at the Pacific mall, on the first floor right next to the stairs that takes you up to the food court (sometimes they price match stuff) and I think they are authorized Pentax dealers - forgot the store name .

Didn't sell. I had my finger hovering over the bid button at the end of the auction, but couldn't bring myself to do it. I wonder if it's being hurt by the fact that it isn't really a suitable FF lens.

Maybe next time around....

Hope they lower the listing price this time around (and no one else reads this)

This is the time to call up my buddies over int eh "pro-services" department and see if they'll drop the price. naw, that would be dangerous... Too expensive, even if they did drop the price. And the 150-450 will be great for me, if i want to spend big bucks.

I agree with your reasoning, the 150-450 will offer you more flexibility, it's one kilo lighter and about 10" shorter when collapsed.

Sounds like even at $2999 this lens is still overpriced :-). Not a deal.

It's still cheaper than a new Sigma Ex 300mm f2.8....

Henry just relisted the lens starting bid $2799...

Looks tempting - not sure why not being FF would be an issue since even at 560 it is never big enough but 840 is better than 560 for how I envision most would use this lens.

Start the auction at $3,000 and get no bids. Start the auction at $2,800 and it shoots up to $3,100. I wonder if whoever wins this auction will ever know. The human psyche at an auction is a curious thing.

Once the bidding gets started, anything can happen.
