Attention Full Frame Shoppers: a rarish "K"
Posted By: CreationBear, 03-04-2015, 10:06 AM

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I came across what I believe to be a well-regarded, but fairly rare, K 24 3.5 on Adorama this morning.
Used Pentax Super-Multi-Coated 24mm F3.5 Lens

I have only seen that A28/2 in the bay once, in the last two years. The K28/2 is much more common but priced exorbitantly.

Somebody was selling a K28/2 locally for around $150, more than a year ago. I hesitated because the rear element was badly infested by fungus. One of my biggest Pentaxian regret.

The A28/2 is a good lens (and superior? to the M28/2) - it went for nearly US$400 the other day on eBay. FF lens prices are rising and good luck if you want a K28/2 for these prices.
I actually bought the KEH lens but it was unacceptably soft from 3.5 to wide open. And by unacceptably soft I mean really bad. Went back to them faster than it came here.

NaCl(one of the nice things about KEH and Adorama is their "no questions asked" return policy)H2O

That is a pity. Mine are sharp wide open (K28/2 and A28/2). Must have had a problem

I'm sure. I researched it carefully b4 I pulled the trigger. No where was there mention of soft from f/3.5 and wider. And by soft, I mean unusable. It was barely acceptable at f/5.6 and not really sharp until f/8.0.

NaCl(probably got dropped or severely bumped somewhere in it's history)H2O

It's kind of like hijacking a thread with the magic words "full frame". Once the K28/2 gets mentioned, everybody piles on.

I had a K28/2 and sold it some 25-30 years ago. Every time it is mentioned I regret it. Many lenses came and went, but this may have been the biggest mistake.

I haven't had the chance to try the 28/2, the K 24/3.5 is incredibly sharp, more so than my DA* 16-50

I know.....YOUR the one that got me hooked on it and two days ago I tried one from a friend/collector...."It"..... ROCKS !
I just bought one and have never been so impatient for ANY lens to arrive. Mine is well used looking though , but for $100 bucks I just couldn't pass it up. CLA by Erik H. may be in order on this one just to be sure.
The 24mm A is no slouch at all either...... so I guess its soon time for a self induced 24mm shootout.....who would have ever guessed....lol.

Funny, I just got the A 24mm f2.8 and was planning on a shoot-out myself, you beat me to it. Post a link of your eBay store, I'd like to take a look at your stuff...
