Obviously the inclusion of a Nikon F adapter makes it worth $12,000.

You should ask the seller how much without the Nikon adapter.

The 1000mm F11 averages around $1000. This one is only twice as long, how is it $12,000 other than the inclusion of a Nikon adapter?

I mean, I know it's nearly 40 years old, so it's vintage. But come on. This is not a decent used car price lens...

And decent used car should be added to RioRico's sandwich rule.

Never trust a listing without photos of front and rear glass.

It's a mirror lens. What front glass?

There are 6 elements in 4 groups, I suspect at least one might make it to the front.

Clinton has one of these. Maybe he should pick up a spare.

There was one sold in Norway a few years ago. At about 1300 USD. Thats low, but 12000 is insanely expensive.

For when you absolutely HAVE to take photos of a squirrel's nostril hairs at 200 paces.

I'll pass on this one, thanks.

You really are attaching the camera to the lens here, aren't you?

There's a link just below to an even more expensive - albeit significantly larger and more sturdily mounted - Nikkor that's going for just south of sixty grand - MY GOD, forget a used car, you can buy a HOUSE for that in my neck of the woods.
