And for that you can get the DFA 70-200 and almost the DFA 150-450

And yeah, I know they are not the same I just thought it amusing that the newest top of the line lenses are comparable in price to a manual focus prime that is 30 years old. Anyone remember what the A*85 went for when new?

Two things, you can't get anything at ƒ1.8 at least in Pentax over 77mm. So the new lenses don't really replace the A 135 if you need even an ƒ2 lens. The A 135 actually exceeds ƒ2. Personally if I had 20k to spend on lenses, I'd love to add this lens. But there are so many other lenses I'd buy first. Some of the guys here have such extensive lens collections, it's hard to believe one of these wouldn't be treasured.

'Treasured' and 'collection' are the key words there. I would love to have it in my collection but I cannot justify it for actual use. I just thought it funny that the market value is so close to the cost of the new DFA lenses. Maybe my sense of humor betrayed me..............

That's assuming it sells at that price of course. I'm guessing only collectors would be interested in it at that price, but maybe I'm wrong.

Ya, it's hard to imagine anyone to pay that for it as a working lens. Maybe Kerrowdown? He's known to worship that old A glass.

Looks nice but I'll just make do with my Sears 135/2.8. Not really in the same league but I save $2260.

+1. I'm quite partial to my F 135mm f/2.8. When I can pry it from wife's hands anyway. Funny how she thought I had too many lenses until she actually tried some of the primes. now the 35mm limited and the F 135mm f/2.8 seem to have become 'her' lenses. Sigh......

One of these, well used but in good condition, went for about $500 locally a few weeks ago. I found myself an FA31 instead

You could have sold it to me for $600 no problem.

Maybe when we were first married I could have pulled a fast one. Now that she's go her own K-5 and lenses, she'd notice, if a new lens turned up. And if she liked it, it would be hers not mine... so what's the point? I might have to buy two of them.

If I buy one, I might still need one, and have to do without most of the time.

Do the same as they do with dresses...

Question - Is that a new dress?
Answer - What this old thing, I've had for ages and I've worn it before.

Just you make sure you do remove all the new labels/tags off the lens.

$500 seems like a much more reasonable price. I'd consider it for that.
