If I had a working K-5 and bought, for example, a K-3ii, I would keep the K-5 as a backup. You never know when you'll have an immediate need for another body. As I have already commented here several times, I have been using a Canon Rebel which I had planned to stretch out to Black Friday 2016 (yes, I run on a very tight budget!). Last week it died, so my best "backup" is my Q-7. When I retired my Super Program and moved over to Canon, I kept it as my backup, and just never got around to getting rid of it, which is why it is still around to be a part of my signature here.
