I left the A telephoto series with the 400/f5.6 and didn't look back. they're still great performers optically, just not easy to work with.

Oh, the A* series with internal focus are a joy to work with -- once they are up on the tripod anyway (too heavy otherwise). I have the A*300/2.8 and A*600/5.6 and I do need to sell one of them (purely for financial reasons), but I don't want to, love working with them...
