K-3 Body Now Down to $749 at B&H With Free Grip
Posted By: Biro, 05-26-2015, 12:47 PM

The K-3 body is now down to $749 at B&H with the free BG-5 battery grip included. This makes it a better deal than the $703 from a third-party seller on Amazon.com. And there'll be no questions about the warranty for U.S. buyers.

It looks like Adorama has matched the B&H deal:

The Prestige Edition is down to $949.95 at Adorama. It says "Closeout", so this may be the last of what's available here.

That link seems to be only the K-3 for $749, but this kit:

Pentax K-3 DSLR Camera with Premium Accessory Bundle 15530 KD

includes grip, FluCard and DA 50mm (after bundling the lens) for $808, a much better deal than at B&H.

... each of the extra items has close to a $100 value ... so the K-3 seems to end up for around $500.

I wish BH/Adorama would just sell the body only for $500. I already have 2 grips, a flu card, and the 50mm.

I'll settle for the body only at $600 - maybe even $650.

The interesting thing I'm seeing is there is a thickening wall of perfectly decent discontinued bodies on the market.. the K-5II is still a fantastic camera.. now the K-3 is no longer the big flagship.. come BF we could really see some APS-C deals. Big time. Market for Pentax gear hasn't been this alive in years.

I fully expect the K-3 to be 600 by BF no later.. if not much sooner. K-3II though I suspect will be handled the same as the K-5II and K-3 in that they will bundle a ton of junk with it to keep the price inflated, so I'm not expecting sub 750 for it this year.

That said, used market is really nice... esp with people bailing out of APS-C once the FF is released... in theory at least. Excited to see the second half of this year with Pentax!

I think this is just the tip of a huge iceberg that will reveal itself when FF is released later this year. How can we not anticipate updates to the FA line and additional product releases?

Absolutely. Still need standard zooms among other lenses. FA need an overhaul... with every new product revision, we get a lot of last gen items on the market either in blowout sales or second hand. Win-Win.

Sorry, I just read this post closely. The B&H link that I provided does include the grip for free. But if one requires the DA 50mm and a FluCard, your deal is fine. I already have the DA 50 and don't like FluCards. But that's just me.

I assume you're talking about upper level APS-C gear. The lower level (K-30, K-50) is already about as low as it can go. That saved me - when my Canon Rebel unexpectedly died, I thought I was going to have to live with the Q-7 as my only working digital camera until Black Friday ... but less than a month later I was able to buy a used-like-new complete K-30 kit for $290 ppd. Roberts is still trying to unload some K-50 bodies for $308 (and some K-30 bodies for something like $350)
