Looks like the DA 35mm is sold out. No surprise it vanished first!

if I knew it was just an incorrect picture on the 55-300, I'd buy two and give one to my mom.

The picture of the old green-band non-HD/WR version is the only problem. The description is clearly about the HD version and the WR:

QuoteQuote:
High-grade multi-layer HD coating minimizes lens flare and ghosting to enhance contrast and color neutrality.
Weather-resistant construction protects the lens from dust and moisture for ensured use in inclement conditions.
plus the specs says:

QuoteQuote:
Weight 1.03 lb (466 g)
In the Box: Pentax HD Pentax-DA 55-300mm f/4-5.8 ED WR Lens
(the original DA 55-300 weighs 440 grams, and the HD version is 466 grams)

So I'm guessing it's a pretty good bet that the lens is the latest HD/WR version.

Irrelevant as the 55-300 is sold out. Went to click "buy" and there were no more!

The 55-300 might have been one of the best values in this sale today. The DA* zooms are excellent prices but I just don't want to play the SDM roulette game. Though I agree that you could just convert to screw drive if you must.

Remember the 17-70 is SDM only, no recourse but manual focus if it fails.
Even so - $239 = w00t (spelled with two zeroes to match my gear-fund balance after purchase) - a very nice match in my kit & frees up a few other items.

is it too much to hope that if the SDM lenses on this sale have been reconditioned recently, that means the SDM problem is fixed on these lenses?
I'm daring to presume that all parameters are up to factory specs. We shall see..

Just took a gamble on a 16-50. Returning the used 20-40 limited I bought earlier this month. Net savings are almost $200 for a lens that's faster throughout the zoom range. Sure, why not?

Yep, it went fast. I was glancing at it sideways, trying to decide when I was going to the states next to pick it up from my US address, then "poof!"

Might as well try it for the price; I'm crossing my fingers for you that the SDM problem is non-existent on these refurbs. Hope you like it better than the 20-40. Personally I like the 20-40 but I've never handles the 16-50 so I can't compare.

I got the 20-40 for a smidge under $600 in great shape but I don't like the limited zoom range. WR is nice to have (and I appreciate the small size) but it's only slightly wider than my widest prime (21 Limited). It's a nice lens, don't get me wrong, but I bought it because I couldn't justify a used "ticking time bomb" 16-50 with no warranty.

For $400 though? And, hopefully with the SDM fixed right out of the gate (plus 90-day warranty)? Sounds like an acceptable gamble for a like-new lens. Glad I'm still in the return period for the Limited zoom

Now, I wonder if Ricoh was just doing some spring warehouse cleaning or if there's really some more updated/new lenses coming soon. We'll see!

The 20-40 was high on my list but not at $700+, the 17-70 on but not at $400+. The 16-50 was not on the list for its bulk and use of 77mm filters which I lack. I had decided to seek a used Tamron 17-50 for $250 or less, then these folks matched that price for the DA17-70 - so fingers crossed and hopes high.. If only it were WR though

Bought many items from Woot. Always first rate and never an issue.

Looks to me like these are all lenses that have full-frame image circles. Maybe Ricoh is blowing them out before rebadging/revising them as DFA (and raising the price). Ricoh did say they would be evaluating all the existing lenses for full-frame usage.

Whew, glad that it's gone so that it will no longer tempt me (and drain my bank account). I really don't need that lens but I have to admit that I've always been curious about using a DA* lens.

The DA 17-70 on the other hand-- that looks like a great price on a lens that almost certainly is going to be discontinued (if not already) because of the new DA 16-85. @jimr-pdx, I think you're going to love the DA 17-70-- it's a lot like the DA 16-45 that you famously love but gives you the extra reach out to 70mm. Can't wait to read your review of the lens.
