yep it's cheap for what it is... especially compared to the D-FA 150-450 which i think would be the competition in Pentax. And then its 5.6 through the whole range the DFA is 4.5-5.6 which is faster at the "wide" end

It's probably not as 'premium' as the other ones. The skipped the gold ring designation and market it towards 'enthusiasts' rather than professionals, and don't mention 'durability' in their news blurb. It will be probably a consumer-grade build.

The 150-450 would compete with Nikon's 80-400mm, which is also F4.5-5.6. Similar price range too. It would be nice for Pentax to have a more affordable super tele beyond 300mm IMO.

Yup. I'd much rather have a little bit faster on these lenses

I got this lens...:-)

I spent some time cleaning and it looks quite good again...

How I did clean the Lens & Cover:
The lens had those ugly duct tape marks from the glue. I tested different options on the bottom of the the collar and found that Ethanol is working the best for getting rid of the marks and not dissolving the silver coating.
Hope this helps someone else!

Great lens, not something I currently aspire to given weight and size. I wanted to say thank you for the cleaning tip. I just used medical grade alcohol on my FA* 300 4.5 and it really improved the silver finish a lot. I used it on every outside surface like the grip and also the mount area and around the front element. Ended up with very black wipes, so that's some years of grime wiped away.

I live part time in Canada and part time in the US. I have an Absolute MINT Condition FA* 250-600mm IF ED to sell. Even the metal carrying case is like brand new! eBay and PayPal fees have gotten pretty crazy these days, almost $1,000 on this lens. Where is the best place to sell it and what is the safest payment option?
