K-3 for $649 w/ free DA 50mm and flash (Black Friday)
Posted By: Adam, 09-17-2015, 01:32 PM

A nice K-3 deal has just gone up at Adorama (free 50mm lens and flash + K-3 for $649.00):

Pentax K-3 DSLR Camera Body 15530

While the deal surely won't last, it's nice to finally get a break from the stubborn price tag of $749 at US authorized dealers.

Man, I bought the same package 3 weeks ago for $750! No regrets, though.

I'd contact Helen @ adorama if you bought it there and see what they can do for you (I suspect they will give you store credit for the difference).

Bottom-feeder ecosystem is thriving nicely. Clear out the carcasses of old stock so new stuff can be brought in. Black Friday should be slightly cheaper but I was looking for a 50mm anyway!

Nick, you should definitely contact Helen like mee suggests, its worth a try.

From last year -
K-5 iis $496
K-5 iis with grip $526

They had some pretty good K-3 bundle deals too.

K-3 was already a year out though... I wouldn't expect those kind of prices this year on the K-3

IMO since the K-3 is officially discontinued, it all depends on the stock @ hand. Chances are you are right; I wouldn't expect Ricoh to be caught in the same situation with the K-3 as they were with the K-5 iis. They did eventually run out of the K-5 iis even though people were still clamoring for them. The K-5 ii were available for longer.

Their BF pricing should reveal how much stock they have in hand. They were pretty aggressive right from the go last year.

But I may be wrong & they may have churned out 2x as many as the K-5 iis & may offer even lower prices just to entice the CaNikon crowd

$496 for a K-3 body-only from a legit Pentax dealer would make me pull the trigger. But I made a conscious decision that I am completely comfortable updating my Pentax gear while running a full generation behind. And I have no interest in full frame any longer. YMMV.

Hard to imagine a body-only K3 for much less than around $500 but stranger things have happened, especially if sales have been slow to clear it out. However, they may have more time now since the FF model is delayed until Spring. The current bundle works for me but most already have the equivalent bundled items. I was really tired of seeing endless bundles "with grip". There must be hundreds of grips in dusty basements never going to be used. Roll the dice....

I really like my k-3, and don't have the 50mm. But do I really need 2 bodies? I have a hard time taking care of one!

Actually, the attraction of a second body is so I can avoid switching out the lenses - especially when in a not so clean environment. And it always takes so long to reload the film!
