Price drops to $299 when you apply promotion code PRINTPRO100 during checkout. $299 less rebate of $250 = $49

For those that bought this in the past. How much ink comes with it? It says start up ink but should you also buy ink right away?

I believe the answer is yes. If you want to buy, go through the checkout process and see if it is processed.

Is there a $100 rebate for the Pro 10 or Pro 1 version?
Doesn't appear to be one.

ink lasted as long as replacement ink does. cheaper to buy an all new printer for $49 rather than replace inks!

Away from keyboard. Using phone which doesn't work all that well for purchase.

It came with full size cartridges. I have printed a few 8 by 10s and several 4 by 6s with no indication of less than full levels. Unless you are printing big you don't need to buy replacements right away. With that said, Canon seems to have specials with ink purchase - for instance I got 500 sheets of 4x6 paper free with a full set of refills.

It is a bit intimidating. We had a few threads about getting the best results out of one.

Just bear in mind that a set of OEM ink tanks for this printer runs between $100-$150! There are non-OEM ones out there for more like $40, but a lot of heavy users will opt for a bulk reloading system such as this one:

I read recently on PrinterKnowledge.com that CISS (Continuous Inking Systems) do not really work the Canon's printers unless you really know what you're doing. It will create a mess because of the way Canon ink heads are designed. You are much safer and better off to refill your cartridges. Here's a link to a thread with all sorts of info about re-filling for the Pro-100.

I just purchased my first set of re-fills from PrecisionColors, so I guess I'll soon find out how it works with the Pro-100!

Just FYI, the very cheapest option for ink re-fills from Precision Colors is ~$95, and according to their site, those will give you about 6 re-fills. So for approximately the same price, you can either buy 1 set of Canon cartridges, or you can get the equivalent of 6 sets of cartridges. That sounds like a much better deal to me!

A lot depends on *what* you are refilling the cartridges with. If it isn't the same formulation as the Canon ink, your photos will either look funny or fade faster than the dickens. I used some of the third-party inks in my Canon printer once. The images looked ok until they started fading in a month. Then the cartridges refused to be recognized... I eventually bought a full set of Canon inks and held my nose at the price.

And since they're so damned expensive, I do 99% of my printing at the local photo lab or on Smugmug. Better quality anyway, if not as convenient.

True, but according to the "professionals" at printerknowledge.com, Precision Color is about the best quality ink you can get, unless you buy OEM Canon. I don't think I would bother with cheap ink on ebay, if that's the sort of 3rd party ink you're referring to.

Maybe a dumb question

Am I missing something? I haven't done a lot of rebates. So I take it on this deal, I pay $299.00 and will get a $250.00 rebate via mail. I take that it will be a Visa with $250 on it?

Thanks
