I want this lens but just because it's on special doesn't mean I can afford it...

If I sold my 150-500, and all my other lenses, I might be able to afford it...

If its down to under $1900 it will be less next year

If I knew what the FF body price was going to be I might consider it.

I got one when Adorama had them 9% off list. When I see these deals, It does give me a bit of a twinge, but I am so happy with the lens that I am still glad I got it when I did. Buy once, cry once.

So you ordered from outside of the US? Even at that price, if doesn't worth it (if you check the "Pay now" option for the VAT & duties on B&H, you go from $1896.95 to $2,528.60 / 2294.5€...) :/

But this will depend on the country. Some users get lucky- and it might be a good deal for those in Australia even after taxes.

Yep. I tried with the K3 + 50mm + flash, I won't with the zoom ^^. However, I have a friend in Atlanta who could buy it for me. Do you know if that could cause some problems? What about the warranty, and what if I am controlled at an airport when coming back in France after some holidays? Would I have to pay the VAT only, or the VAT + import duties, or even worse, could the lens be kept by the customs officers??

No, I did not order from outside the US. But I just meant that if I had waited I could have saved an additional $350. But I am so happy with the lens that I don't fret that I could have gotten is cheaper if I had waited. What is done is done. No use crying over spilled milk.

What you have to realize that in the US the taxes are added when you purchase the lens. The sales tax where I live is 8.25% so it added an additional $202 to my costs.

OK, I didn't get it! For the taxes, in some states there is no tax (like Georgia). In France it is 20%.....
